The conference will be hosted in the town of Bolzano, at the hearth of South Tyrol and Dolomites. Bolzano (Italian) Bozen (German), or Balsan/Bulsan (Ladin) is the capital town of South Tyrol, trilingual, in the northern part of Italy. The town is the largest in the region. Its archaeology museum is famous worldwide as the home of the alpine iceman “Ötzi”.
Bolzano clearly reflects the place where different cultures meet and exchange. In art, for example, Giottesque paintings and works of the Gothic school coexist, while in architecture, the unique contrast between the historic city and the new one, on opposite borders of the Talvera river, immediately stands out.
South Tyrol offers characteristic towns and villages to visit, mountains, spa and lake resorts with simply breathtaking nature. They are easy to reach from Bolzano by train, bus or cableways.
Bolzano itself is reachable by train, bus, or car from several airports or main towns, such as:
- Verona: 2 hours by train (∼20 euro, one way)
- Munich: 3 hours by bus (∼50 euro, one way)
- Munich: 4.5 hours by train (∼70 euro, one way)
- Milano and its airports (e.g., Flixbus): ∼3 hours by bus (∼20 euro, one way) and by train
- Innsbruck: 2 hours by train (∼25 euro, one way)
